O.N. of gasoline & CMT
CMT has the merits of low freeing point,high boiling point,low
volatilization, etc.
CMT dissolves in gasoline
but not water at room temperature. It enhances the efficiency
of explosive resistance of the gasoline without increasing
its toxicity. Its level of O.N. is twice as high as that
of tetraethyl lead by metal weight. With the wider application
of unleaded gasoline,CMT will be a better alternative to
tetraethyl lead.
Sensibilities of hydrocarbon towards CMT:
·paraffins>olefins>aromatics
· lower O.N. fuels>higher O.N. fuels
· RON>MON(research octane number>motor octane
number)
·The explosive resistant efficiency of CMT is about twice
as that of tetraethyl lead
· The O.N. boosting result of adding 18mg/l(manganese
concentration) CMT to gasoline is almost the same as blending
MTBE at 8%~10%(volume) with gasoline.
Packaging &Storage
Liquid CMT20 is packed in metal plating pail (175kg/pail),or
in special storage tanks (10 or 5). Crystal CMT is packed in pail (25kg/pail)
CMT20 can be stored under ordinary temperature, without
exposure to the sun or rain,far away from fire. Be sure
to close the container when it is not being used.
CMT is sensitive to light,a brown bottle or metal pail should
be used to obtain samples of gasoline added with CMT for
testing. The sample should be kept in an opaque container
and stored in a dark and cool place.

What can we profit from CMT? Add one ten-thousandth of
CMT (volume) to the gasoline, with manganese concentration
of 18mg Mn/L, the O.N. level of gasoline can be boosted
by 2 to 3 units, The O.N. boosting result of adding 18mg
Mn/L(manganese content) CMT to gasoline is almost the same
as blending MTBE at 10%(volume) with gasoline, but the cost
of using CMT is 50% less than that of using MTBE.
